About Fernandina
Black lava at Punta Espinosa still holding the ropy texture it cooled into, several hundred marine iguanas piled on top of it, the only flightless cormorant in the world drying wings it cannot use: Fernandina is the youngest island in the archipelago and the least touched by anything introduced. No rats, no goats, no cats. La Cumbre erupted most recently in 2020. Forty-two of our itineraries reach Fernandina across 16 ships, from $2,966 per person, on trips of 4 to 14 nights.
Fernandina has two visitor sites and no settlement, so the island appears only on western circuits that also cross to Isabela. That crossing is the reason: it eats a day, and the shortest departures do not spend it. What you get for the day is the one island where nothing has ever been introduced.
